A Day in HELSINKI - Marathon no.1 - Ringa Manner
Tästä lähtee! Vuorossa siis ensimmäinen kuvapostaus. Kuvaajana meikäläinen itse (Ringa Manner). Kiertelimme Päivytin kanssa keskustassa, Töölössä, Ruoholahdessa ja Kaivopuistossa. Nämä kaikki kuvat on otettu filmille, käytin Agfan 400-isoista värifilmiä, ja Fomapanin 400-isoista mustavalkofilmiä.
Toivottavasti saamme pian muidenkin mukanaolleiden kuvia! :)

Kiitos A Day in HELSINKI I / Thank you A Day in HELSINKI I
Jee, ensimmäinen maraton itseltämme takana. Aikaahan on tämän päivän loppuun asti, joten jos yöllä inspiraatio iskee niin siitä vaan vielä kuvaamaan!
Suunnilleen parikymmentä osallistujaa kävi Kiasman edustalla päivällä, sää oli armollinen, saimme itse kuvattua kaikkiin teemoihin jonkun kuvan (olimmekin keksineet aika kinkkisiä, hups!) ja nyt tiedämme myös että aikaa kannattaa varata melko paljon.
Jäämme odottamaan lähetettyjä kuvia, ja julkaisemme niitä blogissa sitä mukaa kun niitä postilaatikkoomme (adayinhelsinki@gmail.com) tupsahtaa. 11. huhtikuuta mennessä lähetetyt kuvat ehtivät mukaan Kuvitelma-kuvataidemyyjäisten digitaaliseen näyttelyyn 22.4.. Jos et halua kuviasi näyttelyyn, voit mainita sen sähköpostin yhteydessä.
Ihanaa kun olette mukana kuvaamassa! Seuraavasta maratonista infoamme myöhemmin.

The first marathon was a success. You have until the end of today so if a night-time inspiration takes you over, shoot away!
We had about twenty participants by Kiasma, the weather was cold but merciful, we ourselves got a picture in each category (pfew, they were quite tricky!) and now we know that it's good to make time for this.
Now all we have to do is wait for you guys to send your pictures (adayinhelsinki@gmail.com), and we'll post them on the blog as we receive them. If you send them by April 11th, we'll include them in a digital exhibition at Kuvitelma -art sale on April 22nd. If you don't wan your photos in the exhibition, just mention it as you send the photos.
Thanks again, great to have you with us! We'll keep you posted about when the next marathon will be.

Tarkoituksena on kuvata vanhan kinokameran filmirullallisen verran eli 24 kuvaa Helsingistä. Voit kuvata Helsinkiä yleisesti tai seurata ehdotettua 24 aihetta, eli ottaa yhden kuvan / aihe. The aim is to take 24 shots, the amount of frames in the traditional film roll. We gather in the Kiasma square where participants receive directions and changing themes. You can choose the one you like most out of the themes or then you can just freely shoot Helsinki.
From the Kiasma square people head to their desired locations, be it the centre of the city, the suburbs, indoors, outdoors – anywhere is fine as long as it’s in Helsinki, to capture interesting details or views of Helsinki and most of all the atmosphere. The photos can help you to express to others what are the most important things to you about Helsinki and to bring forth places and everyday experiences that may be overlooked in the hurry of the city life.
You can spend as much time on the marathon as you like. After the marathon the participants send their pictures by email to adayinhelsinki@gmail.com and the event organizers add the photos to the event’s blog at adayinhelsinki.blogspot.com. The pictures have to be in jpg format. You have to name the pictures with the photographer’s name and after that add info about whether you’ve shot Helsinki in general or followed the given themes. For example John_Doe_Helsinki_1.jpg or
John_Doe_memory.jpg. Also tell us in the mail what kind of camera you shoot the pictures with. We don’t have the
resources to do any photo editing but you can freely manipulate your pictures if you like.
The pictures from the first a Day in HELSINKI photo marathon will be presented as a digital exhibition at Kuvitelma-

Ensimmäinen A Day in HELSINKI -fotomaraton 31.3.2012! The first A Day in HELSINKI photo marathon on March 31st 2012!
A Day in HELSINKI on kaikille avoin fotomaraton-tapahtuma, jossa kuvataan perinteisen kinokameran rullan eli 24 otoksen verran Helsinkiä. Tarkoituksena on koota laaja mielenkiintoinen kuvakavalkadi Helsingistä ja ylläpitää fotomaratonperinnettä.
Kuvaajaksi voi tulla kuka tahansa, joka omistaa kameran. Kokoonnumme maratonin aluksi Kiasman aukiolla, jossa osanottajille jaetaan osallistumisohjeet ja joka kerta vaihtuvat teemat. Teemoista voi valita mieleisensä tai sitten vain kuvata vapaasti Helsinkiä - teemojen on tarkoitus helpottaa kuvauskohteiden keksimistä ja tuoda vaihtelua useamman kerran osallistuneille.
Kiasman aukiolta jokainen suuntaa yksin tai haluamassaan porukassa minne päin tahansa Helsinkiä kuvaamaan. Kuvata voi keskustassa, lähiöissä, ulkona, sisätiloissa - missä tahansa, kunhan pysytään pääkaupungin rajojen sisällä. Tarkoituksena on löytää mielenkiintoisia yksityiskohtia tai näkymiä Helsingistä ja vangita kaupungin tunnelmaa. Kuvilla voi välittää muille sitä, mikä itselle on tärkeää Helsingissä ja tuoda esiin paikkoja tai asioita, jotka kokee merkityksellisiksi. Kuviin voi tallentaa myös vaikka aivan jokapäiväisiä asioita, jotka jäävät arjen ja kiireen keskellä kaupunkilaisilta huomaamatta.
Fotomaratonilla voi viihtyä niin kauan kuin haluaa - vaikka koko päivän. Kuvauksen jälkeen osallistujat lähettävät kuvansa sähköpostilla osoitteeseen adayinhelsinki(at)gmail.com ja tapahtuman järjestäjät lisäävät kuvat tähän blogiin. Kuvakokoelma kasvaa jokaisen kuvauskerran myötä.
Ensimmäinen A Day in HELSINKI -fotomaraton pidetään lauantaina 31.3.2012. Tapaaminen Kiasman aukiolla (Kiasman edessä, osoite Mannerheiminaukio 2) klo 13:00. Tuo mukaan kamera, lämmintä vaatetta ja avoin mieli!

THE INTRODUCTION IN ENGLISH:
A Day in HELSINKI is a photo marathon that’s open for everybody. The aim is to take 24 shots, the amount of frames in the traditional film roll. The main goal of this project is to assemble a wide and interesting photo collection of Helsinki and to cherish the photo marathon tradition.
Anyone who owns a camera can participate. We gather in the Kiasma square where participants receive directions and changing themes. You can choose the one you like most out of the themes or then you can just freely shoot Helsinki. Themes are there to help you figure out what to take photos of and to bring variaton for those who participate many times.
From there people head to their desired locations, be it the centre of the city, the suburbs, indoors, outdoors – anywhere is fine as long as it’s in Helsinki, to capture interesting details or views of Helsinki and most of all the atmosphere. The photos can help you to express to others what are the most important things to you about Helsinki and to bring forth places and everyday experiences that may be overlooked in the hurry of the city life.

Kiasman aukiolta jokainen suuntaa yksin tai haluamassaan porukassa minne päin tahansa Helsinkiä kuvaamaan. Kuvata voi keskustassa, lähiöissä, ulkona, sisätiloissa - missä tahansa, kunhan pysytään pääkaupungin rajojen sisällä. Tarkoituksena on löytää mielenkiintoisia yksityiskohtia tai näkymiä Helsingistä ja vangita kaupungin tunnelmaa. Kuvilla voi välittää muille sitä, mikä itselle on tärkeää Helsingissä ja tuoda esiin paikkoja tai asioita, jotka kokee merkityksellisiksi. Kuviin voi tallentaa myös vaikka aivan jokapäiväisiä asioita, jotka jäävät arjen ja kiireen keskellä kaupunkilaisilta huomaamatta.
Fotomaratonilla voi viihtyä niin kauan kuin haluaa - vaikka koko päivän. Kuvauksen jälkeen osallistujat lähettävät kuvansa sähköpostilla osoitteeseen adayinhelsinki(at)gmail.com ja tapahtuman järjestäjät lisäävät kuvat tähän blogiin. Kuvakokoelma kasvaa jokaisen kuvauskerran myötä.
Ensimmäinen A Day in HELSINKI -fotomaraton pidetään lauantaina 31.3.2012. Tapaaminen Kiasman aukiolla (Kiasman edessä, osoite Mannerheiminaukio 2) klo 13:00. Tuo mukaan kamera, lämmintä vaatetta ja avoin mieli!
Ensimmäisen kuvauskerran kuvista kootaan digitaalinen valokuvanäyttely Kuvitelma-kuvataidemyyjäisiin sunnuntaina 22.4.2012 Helsingin Kulttuuriareena Gloriaan.

Tapahtuman järjestävät valokuvaukseen intohimoisesti suhtautuvat helsinkiläisneidot Päivyt Toivonen Kuvitelma-kollektiivista ja Pintandwefall -yhtyeestä tuttu Ringa Manner.
THE INTRODUCTION IN ENGLISH:
A Day in HELSINKI is a photo marathon that’s open for everybody. The aim is to take 24 shots, the amount of frames in the traditional film roll. The main goal of this project is to assemble a wide and interesting photo collection of Helsinki and to cherish the photo marathon tradition.
Anyone who owns a camera can participate. We gather in the Kiasma square where participants receive directions and changing themes. You can choose the one you like most out of the themes or then you can just freely shoot Helsinki. Themes are there to help you figure out what to take photos of and to bring variaton for those who participate many times.
From there people head to their desired locations, be it the centre of the city, the suburbs, indoors, outdoors – anywhere is fine as long as it’s in Helsinki, to capture interesting details or views of Helsinki and most of all the atmosphere. The photos can help you to express to others what are the most important things to you about Helsinki and to bring forth places and everyday experiences that may be overlooked in the hurry of the city life.
You can spend as much time on the marathon as you like. After the marathon the participants send their pictures by email to adayinhelsinki(at)gmail.com and the event organizers add the photos to this blog. The collection will grow with every marathon.
The first A Day in HELSINKI photo marathon will be held on Saturday March 31st 2012. We’ll meet up at Kiasma square (in front of Kiasma, the address is Mannerheiminaukio 2) at 1 pm. Bring your camera, warm clothing and a curious mind!
The pictures from the first a Day in HELSINKI photo marathon will be presented as a digital exhibition at Kuvitelma-kuvataidemyyjäiset (Kuvitelma Art Market) on Sunday April 22th 2012 at Culture Arena Gloria in Helsinki.
